Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security measure that reduces the risk of a ransomware attack by adding an extra layer of security to the login process. Ransomware attacks often gain access to a system by exploiting weak or stolen login credentials. If MFA is in place, even if an attacker manages to obtain a user’s password, they will still need to provide an additional form of identification to gain access. This makes it much more difficult for attackers to gain access to a system, even if they have compromised a user’s credentials.
- MFA can also help detect and prevent attacks by alerting users when an attempted login is made from an unrecognized device or location. This can be particularly helpful in preventing attacks that use automated tools to try and guess login credentials.
